By Dave Welch • November 2nd, 2010

For many of us, just the thought of winter conjures images that make us shiver. And those of us that live in the Midwest know that inclement weather is just around the corner, ready or not!Tips from Dave Welch at Auto Action Fleets Help Prepare You & Your Car for Winter Weather Challenges

Now is a great time to do a little planning and be sure you and your vehicle are prepared for the winter.

First, make an appointment with your mechanic to check the following on your vehicle:

  • Tires … examine for wear and tear and replace if necessary
  • Cooling System
  • Brakes
  • Battery and Alternator

Once your car or SUV has had its winter checkup, it’s time for your checklist. Grab a storage crate or box and gather these items from your garage or basement:

  1. Snow/ice Scraper
  2. Warm Blanket
  3. Extra pair of gloves and hat
  4. Windshield Washer Fluid
  5. Can of Lock De-Icer
  6. Jumper Cables or other Starter Device
  7. Cat Litter for Traction
  8. Tow Rope

With these things in your trunk, you can brave the winter weather with confidence!
